About Debra

Debra’s career in the fashion industry started in 1976, working within the wholesale fashion district of Great Portland Street in London’s West End.

She was initially employed as a showroom model, then progressed to understanding fabrics and design, quickly followed by merchandising & buying.

Debra’s opened a retail shop in Essex early 1980’s driven at the time by the fact a mother & daughter had to buy in separate shops, Debra remembers thinking there was no logic in that, retailing was very pigeonholed in those days, so she set her sights and opened a shop that would cater for all ages, styles and sizes as a one-stop shop.

In 1986 Debra moved a short distance to larger premises in Chigwell Essex. Things moved along rapidly with Debra’s eye for buying & designing garments being one-step ahead of everyone else. The shop very quickly gained a great reputation in the TV & Magazine industry, the brand Debra was underway. Debra has always travelled extensively to find merchandise and still does to this day.

Due to the block redevelopment In 2014 Debra again moved to the current location of 8 Brook Parade Chigwell, where she continues to uphold the principals she held when she first opened in 1981. Locations may have changed, but the core of loyal customers and celebrities continually grows.

We now boast an enormous selection of daywear, evening and cocktail wear, and more recently the exciting addition of prom dresses.

Nothing has changed, every garment in stock has been hand selected, designed or manufactured by Debra, she never ‘buys blind’ we know the cut of all our suppliers.

It is not just luck that for decades Debra’s has been the place to come, we have the most fantastic experienced team who are here to help & guide you with an honest opinion and the ability to spend time with you.
